Question

Where can one find the Hagioritic Tomos of St. Gregory Palamas?

Answer

The Hagioritic Tomos (Ἁγιορειτικὸς Τόμος) of 1340–1341, is The Declaration of the Holy Mountain in Defense of Those who Devoutly Practise a Life of Stillness.

Written by Gregory Palamas, the Tomos was accepted as the authentic teaching of the Orthodox Church by the monks of the Holy Mountain and their hierarch.

The critical edition of the original text may be found in P.K. Chrestou, Vol. II of Γρηγορίου τοῦ Παλαμᾶ· Συγγράμματα [Gregory Palamas: The Writings] (Thessalonica, 1966), pp. 567–578; and an English translation is available in Volume IV of The Philokalia, translated and edited by G.E.H. Palmer, Philip Sherrard, and Kallistos Ware (London, 1995), pp. 418–425.
